There are several fantastic events coming up in September for the Stand Up Speak Out Against Poverty week, http://standagainstpoverty.org/suap/. These events are to draw attention to the UN Millenium Development Goals Summit. Events in Indianapolis are:

Meet Hoosiers who are combating global poverty and join our brothers and sisters from around the world to Stand Against Poverty! Sponsored by Oxfam Action Corps Indianapolis, One, Provocate, Results, World Next Door and The Village Experience.
This FREE event will include presentations by local non-profits as well as food and drink provided by The Egyptian Cafe!
**Special Speaker: Garrett Johnson will present "Combating Global Poverty in the 21st century." Johnson currently serves as Professional Staff Member to Richard G. Lugar, the Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee where his portfolio includes Afghanistan, Pakistan, Haiti, international development policy, and refugee/displaced persons.
